Message: When i was deciding where to go for the Russian part of my year abroad, I had a wide variety of options, but Tyumen was definitely a great decision. Despite arriving here in the coldest part of the year, it is still great to get out and about and explore the city which really does have a lot to
offer - lots to see and do and it is very pretty. Accommodation for international students here is really good as you get the opportunity to live amongst Russians as well as people from all over the world. Russian language teaching is also excellent and participating in English language
teaching means you really get to know a lot of the students from different departments. Overall a great experience!

Name: Vicki
Nationality: British
Program: Assisting with English classes and studying Russian (from October 2006-February 2007)

Message: Tyumen is completely different from what I expected! It is a lively city with cafes, cinemas, shopping centres. Although the temperature has at times dropped down to -20s, if you wear the right clothes, it is actually quite bearable (no, honestly-it's not so bad!)! Russian lessons at 'Neftegaz' are of a high standard. But in order to fully appreciate and understand the 'Tyumen experience', you'll just have to come here!

Program: Teaching English Conversation and studying Russian (from September
2006 - May 2007)

Message: Learning Russian while teaching English has been an exciting and fulfilling experience for me. By exploring the Russian culture I've come to know aspects of myself I never knew were there! I've been able to teach very independently and greatly advance my language skills through the Neftegas program. In fact, I highly recommend studying Russian here. The locals are VERY friendly and helpful, and even invite you to their homes to experience Russian cuisine and culture first hand. There are many wonderful things to do in the city and transportation is excellent. This program is a great opportunity for you. As Helen Keller said, "Life is either a daring
adventure, or nothing."
